Compacting Machine & Compactor Felt for Knitted Fabrics
The compacting machine, also known as a compactor or felt compactor, is widely used for the finishing of knitted fabrics. Typically, this machine features two steam chambers and two felt units, which work together to pre-shrink and stabilize garments such as T-shirts and polo shirts.
Before garment production, manufacturers must control fabric shrinkage to avoid excessive dimensional changes during washing. For this purpose, the compacting process mechanically applies a controlled shrinkage of 2% to 10%. Specifically, two consecutive endless compacting felts act on the fabric under high temperature and steam pressure, ensuring uniform shrinkage on both sides. As a result, the process not only improves dimensional stability but also enhances the fabric handle and softness.
